Theatre

As a Director I'm passionate about creating new, innovative and fresh ways to tell stories. From working with classic text and shows (Like Phantom of the Opera and Midsummer Night's Dream) to creating new work and writing.

My experiences as a technician and musician lead well to creating a good sense of rhythm to pieces with a high quality technical interaction in the piece. In production like American Idiot and Accidentally Muslim I've helped craft a world influenced and reliant of the technical aspects in the production. This is the sort of work that excites me.

Some Highlights:

Midsummer Night's Rave

This adaptation of Shakespeare's 'Midsummer Night's Dream' was an immersive production in Epping Forest set to a dance music soundtrack, attended by over 100 locals in the heart of the community, the production fused the culture of the area and it's varied communities with the Shakespearian classic in a modern and energetic way. In 2024 I got to revive this production in a reworked version under Putney Bridge.

American Idiot

I've worked extensively on this show, staging 4 casts between 2016 and 2018 in the show at both Edinburgh Fringe Festival and in other venues including the Iron Works, music and conference centre in Inverness. The show sold our 4 times over across all its runs, including one run selling out before the fringe had even begun.

Intra Muros

Working as Assistant Director to Che Walker for the 2nd time I helped translate the meta play to stage at the Park Theatre, 200. As the show featured Che in the ensemble cast I was regularly needed to watch and note the show. I was also key throughout technical rehearsals to watch over the shows.

Les Miserables

I've directed extensively for youth theatre, working on a number of productions Including Spring Awakening, Avenue Q and Phantom of the Opera. Most notably I've directed Les Miserables School edition twice, with 2 different youth casts.

In The Heights

Working with the Diploma students at WAC Arts, as Associate Director to Che Walker we created a new production of the Lin Manuel Miranda's hit musical. Alongside creating the show we were challenging students in their final weeks of their diploma to fulfil their full potential.

In this I ran rehearsal rooms, full rehearsals, stage a number of scenes and worked closely with the technical team to create those aspects of the show. I worked closely with the Musical Director, taping into my skills as a musician, to bring songs to life, really digging into the story telling possibilities of each number. I designed and operated the Projections for the show too.
